Born in 2002, Dhruvil Bavadiya is an Ahmedabad-based artist whose practice is rooted in an attentive observation of his immediate surroundings. He completed a Diploma in Fine Arts from Sheth C. N. College of Fine Arts, Ahmedabad, in 2023, followed by a Post Diploma in Visual Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, in 2025. Working primarily with ceramics, Bavadiya explores the relationship between the natural world, everyday environments, and the changing conditions of light throughout the day. Dhruvil Bavadiya’s practice begins with looking closely at the world around him. Working primarily with ceramics, he uses the surface of clay as a space to observe and record his surroundings, particularly flora, fauna, landscapes, and the small changes that occur within familiar environments. Rather than treating nature as a fixed subject, he is interested in its constant movement and transformation.
Light and shadow are central to his practice. Bavadiya observes how sunlight shifts across spaces, how shadows lengthen and disappear, and how the changing light marks the passage of time. The movement from morning to afternoon and evening becomes a quiet rhythm within his work, allowing the ceramic surface to hold moments that are temporary and difficult to preserve.
His work has been presented in group exhibitions including An Ocean in a Drop at Indigo Art Museum, Ahmedabad (2026), Beyond the Visible at Hutheesing Visual Art Centre, Ahmedabad (2026), From Field to Frame at the Faculty of Fine Arts, MSU Baroda (2024, 2025), Lineage as Language at Rukshaan Art Gallery, Mumbai (2025), and exhibitions at Conflictorium, Ahmedabad, and the Faculty of Fine Arts Gallery, Vadodara. He has also participated in projects at the Abhivyakti City Arts Festival and undertaken an internship in ceramic glazing at Modern Clay Studio, Vadodara.
