Mohammad Riyaz born in 2001 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He holds a BFA in Painting and an MFA in Painting Composition from Government Fine Art College, Gwalior. His practice explores the entanglements of human life, relationships, labour, family, politics, and everyday experience. Working primarily through painting, thread and colour, Riyaz uses the thread as both material and metaphor—evoking the intricate connections that bind individuals to one another and to the structures around them. Drawing from his childhood experience of sewing, he transforms stitching into a visual language through which questions of connection, confinement, comfort, and personal introspection unfold.
Riyaz has participated in the Kochi-Muziris Students’ Biennale 2025–26 and has exhibited his work in national art exhibitions and competitions. His recognitions include the 8th National Late Shri O.P. Jadia Smriti Award (2025), the Kalasangam Award, Jabalpur (2025), and the Second Award at the Cancer Awareness Art Camp and Competition, Gwalior (2023). His practice continues to develop through an engagement with painting, materiality, and the intimate narratives embedded within everyday life.
